MOTIVATION is a topic that every entrepreneur cannot do without. The mere fact that you started a business and acted on that desire says it all. This is because against all odds when motivated nothing is impossible. Indeed, you can conquer the world if you put your creative thoughts to practice. Only fully motivated entrepreneurs do not give up on the first sign of trouble or failure. Instead, they pick themselves up from the dust and try again. Being an entrepreneur is no walk in the park.

In fact, it needs a lot of guts to grab the bull by the horns in order to attain success. What many people fail to grasp is that, this is no easy road. Also, success does not come easily through using short cuts. Actually, you need to sweat and give it your all, blood, sweat plus tears and not necessarily in that order. Only then can you win in this entrepreneurial world full of viable innovations created by other think tanks. However, if you have Herculean determination and what it takes then these hurdles mean nothing to you.

In the event that you add in an entrepreneurial team to your venture you need to take note of motivational issues. Incentives, rewards and certificates are extrinsic in nature therefore they will all work in your favor if you use them to motivate the entrepreneurial team. To that end, the Human Resource specialists will testify that this is a way to go.

As a result, personally as a standalone entrepreneur, motivation should be intrinsic. That way no matter what you will face you will tell yourself you will eventually emerge the winner even in the face of adversity as you will be sailing through unchartered waters. Consequently, factors that drive entrepreneurs to start their ventures such as determination, taking calculated risks, confidence, creativity, flexibility inter alia are somehow somewhere linked with motivation.

Thus, there is need to question yourself in your entrepreneurial journey so that you assess your motivation levels. How high or low are they because they have a direct result in determining whether you will win or lose. In the same vein, make it your business to ensure your goals/dreams motivate you to continue. Against this background, you might draw motivation from other sources such as your family. Nonetheless make sure first things first, you are inwardly motivated by your entrepreneurial venture.

You must see it in a way that it should be perpetual even after you are long gone. In light of the stated above, an entrepreneurial venture is a legacy therefore it needs your all. Adding to that, you must be in a rightfully motivated frame of mind. Similarly, this is why through the entire bumpy road the likes of Steve Jobs did not give up. For that reason, they left a legacy which is the undisputable ‘Apple brand.’

A strong brand which is a cut above the rest and easily distinguishes itself from the sea of other B brands.  That said, such success stories should motivate a budding Zimbabwean entrepreneur to brace up for the rocky journey ahead. Worth noting, is that no pain no gain. Likewise, no motivation no gain.

Quite frankly, motivation is a pertinent aspect in the running of any big corporate or entrepreneurial venture that people should uphold its doctrines and frameworks such as the popular and psychological Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. All in all the big question is, are you a fully motivated entrepreneur? If not what are you doing about it?

With the right amount of motivation the end result is of being a serial entrepreneur like Strive Masiyiwa. To that effect, motivate yourself to follow your entrepreneurial dream. Needless to mention, we have a lot of pipe dreams going down the drain from not fully motivated entrepreneurs.

On all intents and purposes, we need ‘change’ which is seen through motivated entrepreneurs who do not give up on their first fall. Contrary, they take that experience as the first stepping stone to success because you learn from your mistakes. Accordingly, entrepreneurship is a learning curve that thrives on capitalising on opportunity gaps that many do not see. Notably, even the Great Wall of China was not built in a day. To be exact, all it takes is motivation. Nobody can dispute the power of motivation in business or entrepreneurship.
