Background

Beryl (beryllium Aluminum Silicate) is classified under Industrial Minerals. It occurs mainly in greisens, pegmatite and hydrothermal deposits. Chemically the mineral can be expressed as Be3Al2 (SiO3)6.

Pure beryl is colorless, other possible colors are green, blue, yellow and red. It also has some gem stones varieties which includes emeralds (deep green, light green is only referred to as green beryl), Aquamarine (sky-blue), pink Morganite, yellow Heliodor and golden beryl

Uses and Beneficiation Opportunities

Beryllium is a lightweight metal used in the manufacturing of nuclear reactors; beryllium-copper alloy products used in automotive electronics and computers, undersea communications equipment, jewelry and pipe products in the oil and gas industry.

International Price

Beryl prices varies from type but the range of stones up to 10 carats with richer colors retail for up to $150 per carat whilst those which are 10 carats or larger could fetch up to $265 per carat
