Operating from South Africa, Dominion own it, a brand owned by Eleanor Mwampamba (25) of Hwange currently serves Zimbabwe and South Africa with the vision to expand to a worldwide brand.
Dominion own it, an exclusive fashion brand operating online selling quality male and female clothing that never goes outdated is gradually occupying space in the now commonised online market.
Mwampamba narrated how she came up with her own brand by saying that, “Dominion started as a side hustle back in University l always wanted nice things and my pocket money was never enough and instead of bothering my single mom l decided to start making money for myself.”
“Dominion is a name I derived from the Bible: Genesis 1 vs 26 where God was talking about us having Dominion over everything on earth, said Mwampamba.
According to her, she want people
to feel that authority when they wear clothes she sells and that my brand can be a reminder of how they can conquer anything because they have that power to do and be who they want to be and we can also express that authority through fashion.
Mwampamba operates through the motto, We own it darling! and a slogan “Own it” which she says it’s a perfect match for her brand name.
Mwampamba also said that venturing into entrepreneurship has never been difficult because she was raised in a family of entrepreneurs.
“I was raised in a family of entrepreneurs so making money actually started at a very young age,’ I used to sell stuff back in high school; hotdogs and sweets.
However despite facing so many challenges Mwampamba never gave up on Dominion own it because of her love for fashion.
“This has always been my dream and I’m exactly where I should be. The struggles have helped me gain some priceless lessons. I’ve grown to be very patient and resilient, said Mwapamba.
Mwampamba highlighted that one needs to be an opportunist and believing in him or herself inorder to overcome challenges in business. ou need to be an opportunist and believe in yourself!
“When I started selling clothes some people complained about the prices but the people that saw the value in me showed up and they bought from me and now my business has grown and I’m not even at my peak yet. I am only getting started,” said Mwampamba
She also said that one needs to know the value of their brand and their target market so as to know the pricing.
“You determine the price. Nomatter how expensive your products are, the people that can afford your prices will always buy.
The young business lady highlighted that indeed it’s a lonely world, friends will be few but the real ones will always support you and you need to soldier on.
Mwampamba also believes that everything works through prayer.
“One needs to pray for his or her business because wherever there is God, nothing fails, said Mwampamba.
Mwampamba is not only a fashion entrepreneur but she is also an accountant, health and wellness coach who has a passion for fashion, fitness and traveling.
The fashion entrepreneur highlighted that she is grateful for the support she has received from her family, friends and strangers.
“In Ndebele we say, ‘umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu,” and it is true, said Mwampamba.
