Evolution. The word evolution is a common word used by many to describe the introduction of a new era which brings with it new changes and new developments. The phrase “Lithium is the new Gold” needs not to be viewed with a narrow view. Economies all over the world are propelled by a healthy economy. Agriculture, mining, trading and many other economic activities play a pivotal role in propelling economies. Before deeply looking at lithium at large, understanding human evolution is important in understanding why lithium is being defined as the new gold.
Cecil John Rhodes, one of the best investors in history of mankind, heavily invested in mining. Rhodes first took much time in investing in diamonds because of the diamond rush that took place in Kimberly in Southern Africa. The word evolution as it was described above means that the world evolves with time, hence the introduction of major players like Cecil John Rhodes. Rhodes later expanded his mining activity to new levels, mining other valued minerals such as gold. This change in value of minerals is caused by technological changes hence the evolution. It is not only Rhodes who evolved with technology but the whole world evolved with the new technology. The issue of evolving can be traced back to primitive era and the industrialization era. The industrialization era saw the introduction of mass production and the much usage of minerals such as gold and gave value to gold. However, now we are in the tech era where technology has taken over hence the phrase “lithium is the new Gold.
How true is the statement that, “innovation is the father of evolution’’? Innovation can be traced back as the days of Galileo Galilei. All the innovation that Galileo did propelled further innovations such as innovations of great minds such a Thomas A. Edison. Great minds such as Henry Ford took part in the great evolution which has seen the world today living in a new and different world. Keep in mind that lithium is the reason why this passage was written because of the significate part it is playing in creating a new world, hence the speculation of the past events. Ford played a great part in the making of car engines which we are still using in present times. The car engine models which we are using take their root to the engines which Ford came up with. The coming of new technology has seen Ford engines being modified to superfast engines which Ford would have been delighted to see and know how they work. However, the continuous change of technology has taken its toes to new heights were the Ford type of engine is facing the danger of being replaced by a new type of engine. Lithium plays a pivotal role in that changed because it is the best mineral that is being used to manufacture the new products.
Li-ion, that abbreviation is known by most of the people but a just few know what it stands for. The abbreviation LI-ION stands for lithium and ion. Lithium and ion have been discovered by scientists to be good minerals when it comes to the production of batteries. Batteries used to be manufactured using NI-MH combination which did not last that long. The introduction of the lithium and ion has seen great minds such as Elon Mask coming up with new innovations which are moving technology forward and bringing new changes to the world at large. Mask and his tech company has introduced the new automobile engine which is ready to replace the Ford engine. The Tesla engine which uses battery has taken a stand in replacing the old Ford engine. The Tesla Company has taken time to study the power and strength which lithium and ion has in manufacturing top quality batteries which are capable of powering powerful engine. The li-ion Tesla battery has passed the test that it can be used for 25 years before it is replaced. The Tesla cars are already taking their market share. Toyota, Nissan and BMW have also taken to manufacturing the lithium battery and they are coming up with new car models which will be using the new battery technology.
Schools, colleges and universities should embrace the new technology and became hubs which do not manufacture 8 to 5 workers but they should be hubs which manufacture students who are innovative, working side to side with the new technology. The way lithium is taking over the mineral market value should not be viewed as for those who are in the mining business alone but it should be an eye opener that planet earth still has more that it can offer to the world. America, Asia and Europe are playing a great part in embracing the fast changing technology and coming up with new innovations that add value to the world. Such thinking needs to be encourage in Africa and the latter’s schools, colleges and universities should become hubs which educate its students to come up with innovations.
