Below are the excerpts of the interview

QN: Tell us about yourself?

Ans: Hello Amanda and team. Thank you for this opportunity, it is an honor and I am grateful. My name is Tendai Thelma Mujombiza, Founder of the growing Tinakise Events Hub (est 2020) which rents out décor equipment, entertainment and sound equipment. I am also an Events Planner, focusing on planning and coordination of both social and corporate events. I am a Public Relations personnel by profession and have worked for the civil service in the department of Communications for few years and resigned in quest of being fully devoted to do what I am passionate about- Events industry. I am a creative story teller and it is the same creativity that has been a backbone of ideas in my events business. A bio about me would be incomplete if I do not mention that I belong to a Kingdom that has stood firm for ages, the same Kingdom to which is behind the development of my business, the Kingdom of God.

Embarking on the path of becoming a founder requires courageously stepping outside one’s comfort zone, embracing the inherent risks and uncertainties, and venturing into the realm of creating something novel and meaningful.

My passion for adorning events with mesmerizing décor, lighten up the atmosphere with music, consumed me for so many years so much that I had to quit my office job to pursue the business. I quit my white-collar job for I avoided conflict of interest considering PR and Events work hand in glove. I avoided under-serving my Employer as I knew how much the Events Business would take from me hence taking the leap of becoming a founder.

QN: Why should anyone use your service or product?

They get value for their money. Emotions and anxieties which come with planning an event are well managed by my team. It’s a fun and hardworking team I have.

QN: Tell us a bit about your team?

For the sake of their privacy, I am not going to mention their names but I work with a dedicated, hardworking, skilled, fun loving and passionate team. There is no much to say about them as the company is still growing and have not reached at least half of our desired target as an organization.

QN: Networking is an essential event planning skill since the events industry is based on relationships and is heavily people driven. How has incorporating the power of social media networking into your event planning business helped you build your strengthen relationships within the industry? Throughout your journey, who are your biggest inspirations?

Social Media have enabled me in promoting my business to a vast audience instantaneously. I developed relationships in the industry which has made access to equipment easier and quicker. I managed to emerge and develop as a brand on both Facebook and Instagram as Miss Tee with people falling in love with my creative writings. This has enabled me to create a home in the industry. I embraced the positive side of social network sites, made use of them. In this journey, I am inspired greatly by my family. They push me to do better so I can become a better version of myself. Some of my clients come from referrals by my family so Yes…………….

QN: How have you balanced work and family?

I do so by prioritizing my time, setting boundaries and making sure that my family is not directly connected with clients as I always try to protect them from any potential harm that comes with events industry and social media respectively. I am grateful my family is making this journey easier as they are being supportive though from a distance.

QN: Are we ever going to reach gender equity or it is just a theory that is morally right?

I am loving how women are being empowered to lead and its stemming from the families we are coming from, stretching to schools and workplaces. Gender equity is being practiced in the key societal groups thus making it easier to achieve it.

QN: March is Women’s month and this year it is celebrated under the campaign theme #InspireInclusion. In brief what does the theme mean to you? To me it simply means that, a woman requires a seed to generate a great harvest for those looking up to her. In this case, inspiration means being resourced whilst inclusion refers to being given the platform to blossom, therefore when a woman is resourced, she blossoms.
